WOODSTOCK – Selectmen on Tuesday scheduled a March 10 public hearing on town meeting warrant articles and ambulance service.

Town Manager Vern Maxfield said, “We have met with representatives of Tri-Town Ambulance and Rescue and P.A.C.E., both of which have presented good proposals, but we wish to let the people decide how they want to go.

“We have had Tri-Town for many years but it is time to know exactly how the people feel about their emergency service and give them a chance to voice their final wishes,” he said.

At the 6 p.m. hearing in the town office, proposals from each ambulance service will be aired and people can talk about them.

Maxfield also said this year’s share for the Region 9 building project in Mexico is $65,000 but will be at the $90,000 level for the next 15 years.

Maxfield said he and selectmen will finalize the 2009 budget proposal at their Feb. 17 meeting.

“It looks like the town’s general municipal budget will be down some but the bottom line will depend on the final education assessment for SAD 44,” he said.

The annual town meeting is scheduled for March 30.
