LEWISTON – The Lewiston Junior Maineiacs Squirt Travel hockey team traveled south and went 1-1-1 in the Challenge Cup tournament at New England Sports Center.
New Haven Warriors battled back to derail the Maineiacs, 3-2, in a hard-fought opener. Game Two was a 3-3 deadlock with Brewins Croft. The Juniors finally broke through with a convincing 4-1 victory over Brewins Perkins.
Isaac Dube, Joe Bisson and Conrad Grimmer each scored two goals on the trip. Justin Keaney, Luc Dostie and Kyle Morin added one apiece. Dostie and Jeromey Rancourt each doled out two assists, with Cameron Dionne and Noah Buiniskas each notching one. Kyle Welsh and Devin Dumont shared the net duties.
In recent league play, the Juniors exploded for 19 goals in two games.
Bisson and Grimmer each lit the lamp twice in an 11-1 triumph over the Junior Black Bears. Bryce Leger, Keaney, Buiniskas, Dostie, Rancourt, Dube and Cooper Richard each added a goal. Dostie racked up three assists, with two each for Bisson and Keaney and individual helpers by Ryley Austin and Dionne. Dumont was the winning netminder.
Welsh registered the 8-0 shutout in goal against Casco Bay. Bisson contributed two goals and an assist. Buiniskas bagged a goal and two assists, with a goal and an assist for Grimmer. Richard, Leger, Dostie and Keaney all picked up a goal, with Dube getting an assist.
