AUBURN – Dorothy L. Sagner, 91, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, at Hospice House with family at her side.

She was born in Freeport, Oct. 31, 1917, a daughter of Ralph and Harriet (Grover) Mason. She was educated in local schools and remained a resident of this community most of her adult life. She was married to Richard H. Sagner Sr., who predeceased her in 1983.

She worked many years for the Auburn School Department in the lunch program at Washburn School until her retirement. She attended the Advent Christian Church in Auburn and was a dedicated volunteer for several years at Russell Park Health Care Facility.

She was a very avid Red Sox fan, who also enjoyed spending quality times with her family, children and grandchildren. For many years, she and several of her lady friends participated in their “Summer St. Coffee Club” where they would have weekly coffee at each other’s homes in the neighborhood to keep up with each other’s “goings-on” and to grow some terrific friendships. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed.

She leaves her three children, Clifford Sagner of Portsmouth, N.H., Ronald Sagner and his wife, Donna, of Old Town and Patricia Dyer and her husband, William, of Mechanic Falls; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leslie Mason and his wife, Marilyn, of Willimantic, Conn.; and a daughter-in-law, Roadrain Sagner of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by a son, Richard H. Sagner Jr. in 2004; a grandson, Stewart Sagner in 1974; and a great-granddaughter, Kate Libby, in 2007.
