SUMNER – Vernon and Charlotte Bradeen of Sumner were given a surprise 65th anniversary party by their friends at the Congregational Church of East Sumner on Jan 18.

The couple has lived all of their lives in Sumner and were wed on Jan. 16, 1944, when Mr. Bradeen was home on two-weeks leave from the war.
