PARIS – Mary Ann Brown, president, and Mike Burke, chief executive officer of Community Concepts Inc., have announced that Melissa Burnham of Dixfield has been elected to the board of directors.

Burnham brings five years of experience as a parent representative in the Community Concepts Head Start parent group at the Chisholm School in Rumford.

She said she looks forward to expanding her awareness of local issues and having an opportunity to participate in creating local solutions as a member of the board.

Burnham is involved in the Head Start program at Community Concepts. She is serving her second term on the Children’s Services Policy Council and was recently elected chairwoman.

Burnham has a particular interest in energy issues and has created a “pilot” project at the Community Concepts Chisholm site to create an energy saving and recycling model that can be adapted at other Head Start sites in Franklin and Oxford counties.

Community Concepts has provided Head Start services since 1965. The organization currently provides early care and education for more than 500 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years, in Head Start and Early Head Start programs throughout Franklin and Oxford counties.
