AUBURN – Isaiah Dubois’ goal with 13 seconds remaining in regulation Sunday gave the Auburn Avalanche Peewee House hockey team a 2-2 tie with Central Maine White at Sukee Arena in Winslow. A day earlier, the Avalanche knocked off the Gardiner Tigers, 4-2, at Kennebec Ice Arena in Hallowell.

Nick Hemond make key saves when counted on, and Auburn (11-3-4) fought until the final click of the clock to preserve the tie with Central Maine.

Ryan Lavoie staked Auburn to a first-period lead, converting on a breakaway. White countered with a goal by Jacob Grenier with an assist from Brogan Foley-Kerr. Both teams played a scoreless second period.

Central Maine took a 2-1 lead at the 8:49 mark of the third period on an unassisted goal by Edward Atkins.

With less than two minutes to play in the game, Central Maine was assessed a tripping penalty to give the Avs a power play opportunity. The Avs kept play in the Central Maine zone and pulled goalie Hemond to create a 6-on-4 advantage, leading to the equalizer. Team captain Kyle Knight assisted Dubois.

Auburn used a balances attack and strong team play to defeat Gardiner on Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless first period, the Avs got things going in the middle stanza as Tyler Couture wristed home an assist from Cameron Berube and Tanner Ramich. Later in the period Ramich produced an unassisted goal. The Tigers added one in the second period off the stick of Matthew Farris with an assist going to Dakota Benson.

Branden Dyer added some breathing room in the third period, Ramich assisting. Farris added one late in the third to make things interesting until Dubois added an empty-netter in the closing moments. Hemond played another strong game between the pipes for Auburn.
