JAY – Nomination papers for two three-year selectmen terms and two three-year School Committee terms are available at the Town Office.

The selectmen seats currently are held by Amy Gould and Chairman Steve McCourt. The School Committee positions are held by Vice Chairwoman Tammy Dwinal-Shufelt and Judy Diaz.

Papers are due by 4 p.m. Friday, March 14.

Author to read, sign book

LIVERMORE FALLS – Barbara Craig of Wilton will sign her book for pre-teens, “The Wilding House Mystery,” at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Church of Nazarene Fellowship Hall on Bemis Street.

Craig will read the book to children participating in the 3-2-1 Lift-Off Tutoring and Beyond, she said Tuesday.

The books is based during the Civil War and highlights the Underground Railroad in Maine.

Food pantry expands hours

WILTON – The Wilton Area Food Pantry will hold special hours during the last Wednesday of the month for those who qualify for assistance but cannot make it during regular hours.

The pantry will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. on the last Wednesday of the month beginning Feb. 25. The regular hours for the pantry are 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays through Thursdays.

To qualify for assistance, families must meet income guidelines set by the federal government. They also must show proof of residence in Wilton, East Wilton, East Dixfield, North Jay or Weld.

Manager looking for oldest resident

JAY – Town Manager Ruth Marden is looking for the oldest town resident. So far, they know of one person who is 99 years old, she said. People are still considered residents if they have had to move from their home to a nursing home, Marden said.
