AUBURN – Louis N. Begin, 92, of 440 Minot Ave., Auburn and formerly of Lewiston, died early Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Clover Manor Health Care Facility after a short illness.

He was born in Auburn, on July 30, 1916, the son of Pierre and Rose (Fournier) Begin and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was educated in Lewiston schools.

He was married to the former Antoinette Marcoux on June 28, 1937; she died on July 20, 1967. He owned and operated Diamond Lunch here in Lewiston and then was a self-employed automotive cosmetologist until his retirement.

He enjoyed camping, Sunday car rides and loved his dog “Buddy.” He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Lewiston and a parishioner of Holy Family Church.

He is survived by two sons, Gerry Begin and his wife, Connie, and Leo Begin and his wife, Sue, both of Sabattus; five daughters, Louise Lachance and her husband, Don, of Oklahoma, Jeanne Mathieu and her husband, Paul, of Lewiston, Marie Ann Chabot of Lewiston, Helen Begin of Lewiston and Rita Rancourt and her husband, Ron, of Lewiston; two brothers, Paul Begin and his wife, Yvonne, of Auburn and Robert Begin of Lisbon; 26 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, Andre and George Begin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gordon, Dr. Hatten and the entire staff at Clover Health Care Facility for the wonderful care they have given to Louis throughout this past year.
