DIXFIELD – The following incidents are being handled by the Dixfield Police Department:

Hit, run

Police are looking for the driver of a tan Jeep that hit the rear bumper of a 2003 blue Nissan Sentra at 4 p.m. Feb. 11 at Canton Point Road and Route 2. Chief Richard Pickett said when the driver of the Nissan stopped at the light, the driver of the Jeep, who was behind the Nissan, ran into the back of the car. Pickett said the driver of the Jeep may not have known that he hit the smaller vehicle. The Jeep’s driver is asked to call Dixfield police at 562-4517.

Blasting sound

Police are seeking information from anyone who may know the source of a blasting noise coming from a house on lower Weld Street. Pickett said complaints were made Feb. 3 and Feb. 6 at about 11 p.m. He said he believes a homemade plastic explosive, meant to make noise and not cause damage, was set off.
