SATSUMA, Fla. (AP) – Florida investigators say they are re-interviewing family members as they search for a 5-year-old girl who vanished from her home.
Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy also said Friday that they are expanding the search area for Haleigh (HAY’-lee) Cummings, who disappeared early Tuesday from a mobile home in northeast Florida.
Investigators think the girl was abducted. The sheriff says about 50 volunteers, including some on horseback, are helping authorities search thick brush and marshland. The search area has widened beyond the initial 5 miles from the girl’s home.
Hardy refused to say which family members will be interviewed again.
The girl’s parents are divorced and she was being watched by her father’s 17-year-old girlfriend when she disappeared.
