AUBURN – Freshman forward Brian Hart and senior forward Jesse Shavel notched two goals apiece as Greely suppressed Leavitt with a 5-2 victory in a Class B boys’ ice hockey contest Saturday.

The game remained competitive through two periods with Greely leading 2-1, until the Rangers (16-1) opened things up in the third with three tallies.

Senior forward Tyler Robitaille scored both goals for the Hornets (9-9) on assists from senior forward Steven Rouillard in the second and third periods. Robitaille’s first goal at 7:06 of the second period had tied the game at 1-1

Neither team could score on the power play.

Goalie Cody Violette made 31 saves for Leavitt, while Sam Kurland earned the win in net for Greely with 16 saves to his credit.

Fryeburg/Lake Region 3, Poland/Gray-NG 3

HEBRON – Fryeburg Lake-Region’s Kevin Zachrisson found the back of the net with 6:30 remaining in regulation to force overtime where Poland Gray-New Gloucester killed a four minute five-on-three, ending the game in a 3-3 deadlock.

The Patriotic Knights (12-4-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Kolby Arnold and Ryan Davala, each with an assist from Ben Piper. Ryan Ahern put the Ice Cats on the board with an assit from Zachrisson with 1:01 to go in the opening frame.

Dan Casey found Ted Skarbinski for a second period tally to tie the game heading into the third period where Arnold and Zachrisson traded goals to force the extra session.

Mike Shea made 30 stops for the Ice Cats while Sean Bilodeau turned aside 17 for the Patriotic Knights.
