LEWISTON – Frances B. Cushing, 76, formerly of Route 232, Bethel, died Sunday, Feb. 15, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Rumford, on Dec. 1, 1932, a daughter of Willard and Lillian (Smith) Bailey, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1951.

She had worked for the Rumford Steam Laundry and later for the Norway Steam Laundry. She also had worked at the Penley Corp. Wood Products in West Paris and later as a secretary for the U.S. Forest Service until retirement in 2001.

She was married to the late William F. Cushing Sr., who died Dec. 28, 2001.

Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Curtis and husband, Ret. Lt. Major Chester Curtis of Manassas, Va.; a son William E. Cushing and wife, Debbie, of Bethel; and grandsons, Adam and Andrew Curtis of Virginia.
