NORWAY – An old commercial building at Main and Tannery streets has been demolished to make way for a parking lot.
The wood-frame building at 239 and 241 Main St. once housed a Ford Model A dealership, a gas station, JR’s Redemption Center and Oxford Tools Rental.
Owner John Allen of Paris said he razed the dilapidated building Monday to open up parking space for the brick Trolley building he owns next door. The removal also opens up the view to his other property, he said.
The Trolley building has been vacant since Elise Thurlow of Albany Township closed her restaurant, The Brick, last year. Previously, the building was home to The Trolley House Restaurant, which closed in 2006. Its name comes from a time when the building was used to house trolleys.
Allen said he hopes to have a restaurant back in the building sometime this spring but he declined to elaborate on the plans.
