FARMINGTON – The manager’s apartment at Farmington Motel sustained about $80,000 damage in a fire from a wok left on a stove Wednesday morning, Fire Chief Terry Bell said.

No one was injured, he said.

Firefighters quickly contained the 10 a.m. blaze behind the motel office on Farmington Falls Road. Manager Nitesh Tailor and his wife live in the apartment.

Although smoke wafted from the eaves of several rooms in the motel, Bell believed the rooms received little damage. Smoke could be seen for some distance from the motel and traffic was held up on busy Route 2 East by a fire hose running to a hydrant across the road from the motel.

Firefighters from Wilton, Jay, Temple and New Sharon assisted.

The motel is owned by Sanjay Ratel of New Jersey.
