WILTON – Auburn YMCA won the Division I championship of the two-tier Central Maine 3-4th grade basketball tournament on Saturday. Turner captured the Divison II tourney.

Nearly every game was decided by single digits in this highly competitive and evenly-matched tournament.

The day started with a Division II match up of Farmington and Augusta and these 2 teams set the pace for the day. Turner finished the morning bracket with a 4 point win over Farmington, 44 to 40 for the bracket championship.

The afternoon bracket started just as the morning did with a fast paced battle between Wilton and Maranacook, with Marancook pulling out a five-point win. The rest of the afternoon also saw back-and-forth games with fast paced and competitive basketball for this age group. In the end, AYS undefeated streak came to an end with Auburn YMCA pulling the five-point upset, 47-42 for the bracket championship.

CMBL tourney

AYS captured first place in the 3rd-4th garde division of the Central Maine Girls’ Travel League. AYS beat Oakland 41-34 behind the play of Alex Bessey, who scored 23 points and Brooke Tracy, who added 12.
