FARMINGTON – Folk musicians Cindy Kallet and Grey Larsen will bring their blend of American contemporary folk and world music to the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday, March 7.

Kallet and Larsen, well known individually for their decades of music-making, have joined forces to form a duo. Kallet is a singer, guitarist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Larsen plays Irish flute, tin whistle, fiddle, piano, harmonium and concertina, and is an accomplished singer.

The duo’s repertoire includes Kallet’s original songs, distinctive settings of traditional Irish music, Scandinavian fiddle duets, old-time fiddle and guitar tunes from southern Indiana, and new music that Kallet and Larsen are creating. Their sound is deeply rooted in folk traditions and interwoven with the renaissance and baroque counterpoint in which they were both immersed while growing up.

Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. concert in Nordica Auditorium are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors; children 15 and younger admitted free. For more information, call 778-6830 or see www.artsinstitute.org
