AUBURN – John R. Stegman, 69, of Bowdoinham Road, Lisbon Falls, died Friday, Feb. 20, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

He was born March 11, 1939, in Stephenville, Texas, a son of Carl and Nina (Proffitt) Stegman. He was educated in and graduated from high school in Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Stegman served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years, retiring in 1981 as a senior chief petty officer. During his time in the Navy, he served as a flight engineer on board various P3 aircraft that would search the seas for enemy submarines.

Following his retirement from the military, he went to work at Boeing Co. in California where he was a field engineer who worked on various missile systems. He retired from Boeing in 2001 following 20 years of service.

He was a life member of the VFW Post of Lisbon and enjoyed spending free time there when he could.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Charlyne (Misiorek) Stegman, of Lisbon Falls; three sons, Royce Stegman of Dover, N.H., Carl “CJ” Stegman of Walpole, Mass., and Kyle Stegman of Greenland, N.H.; a brother, Charles “Buddy” Stegman of Arkansas; and their respective families.
