AUBURN – Yvonne Turgeon, 93, of Webster Street, Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Saturday at the Hospice House of Androscoggin following a long illness.

She was born on Sept. 13, 1915, the daughter of Edgar and Josephine (Simoneau) Paradis. She was educated in local schools, and later worked for many years as a stitcher for Bates Mill. She married Romeo Castonguay, who died in 1967. She later married Adelard Turgeon in 1972, and he predeceased her on May 29, 2008. They had a wonderful life together, traveling to Europe several times, Hawaii and bus trips to Canada with many friends to enjoy the Winter Carnival and the Maple Sugar Festival.

Yvonne was a member of Holy Cross Church, American Legion Post 22 Ladies Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary of Lewiston, Covenant 50 and Association Canado Americaine, she enjoyed playing cards and watching the Lawrence Welk Show.

She is survived by one sister, Sr. Irene Paradis OSU of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Anne Paradis of Florida; nieces Barbara Bizier of South Paris, Diane Laskarzewski and Doris Brousseau both of Florida, and Doris (Turgeon) Chasse, who was also her caregiver of Lewiston.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Josephine Turner; and three brothers, John and Roland Paradis and Alfred Gauthier.
