CENTRE ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) – Police say a body has washed up behind a house in a posh Long Island community where Billy Joel owns a home.

Nassau County police say the unidentified woman’s body was found Monday afternoon in Centre Island. The corpse was apparently floating in Long Island Sound, but it’s unclear where it came from.

The tiny village in the Town of Oyster Bay is lined with waterfront estates. The “Piano Man” singer put his 14,000-square-foot property there on the market for $37.5 million in 2006. He also has a home in Sag Harbor.

The medical examiner’s office is investigating how the woman died.
