STRONG – The Franklin County Spelling Bee was held on Feb. 24 at the Strong School.

Students participating were:

Jay: Louis Krupp, Mikayla Oswald, Kristen Ouellette and Bryana Longley.

Rangeley: Abigail Abbott, Samantha Straub and David Bachelder.

SAD 9: Astra Pierson, Max Kay, Kathryn Hayes and Tyler Craig.

SAD 58: Jordan Shockley, Matthew Beauregard and Bram Tooker.

Cheryl Pike, Judi Richard, Brenda Stevens and Shirley Schrader severed as judges for the evening and the bee master was Monica Allen.

Spelling “contiguous” in the fifth round, then “abdicate” for the win in the sixth round earned Tyler Craig, the right to represent Franklin County in the state spelling bee, which will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Trinity Catholic School in Lewiston.
