BETHEL – Warm Indian pudding with whipped cream, served from the hearth of the winter kitchen of the Dr. Moses Mason House, was one of many activities at the Bethel Historical Society’s 35th annual Heritage Day.
Other events included an appraisal for up to two antiques or collectibles by Jay Boschetti of Steam Mill Antiques for a donation of $5. Traditional craft demonstrations and exhibits were given by June Abbott, quilting; Lorrie Hoeh, spinning; Grace McKivergan, weaving; and Jane Peterson, spinning.
There were also several historical films playing throughout the afternoon. A genealogical round table led by genealogist Steve Seames was well attended. Tours of the Mason House were available as well as exhibits on the Androscoggin River, the Maine Grange, Bethel history, Maine barns, Robinson House and Maine minerals. The museum shop was also open.
Jackie Bell served the pudding, and Maryjane Shiverick, Lorrie Hoeh and Grace McKivergan made it. Bell was assisted in the museum by Hugh Chapman and Allan Marcotte as guides. At the Robinson House, Lin Chapman assisted with the appraisal table and Jean Owen tended the shop.
