LEEDS – Maurice Dumond, 68, of Leeds, died unexpectedly Feb. 24, at his home.

He was born in Wallagrass, Sept. 24, 1940, the youngest son of Albert J. and Isabelle (Labbe) Dumond.

He worked many years for Bates College. His fondest memories were telling stories about Steckino’s, where he was the head chef and also stories of his son, Stephen’s hockey games. They always told Moe to make a long story short. He loved caring for his home and all his created projects.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Yvonne; his daughter, Cathy Finn of Yarmouth; his son, Stephen of South Portland; his stepchildren, Tammy Melbourne and husband, Keith, of New Jersey, Cyndi Capalbo and husband, Kevin, of Lewiston, Scott Parker and wife, Lora, of Hebron and Steven Parker and wife, Jessica, of Hebron; he will be missed by his many stepgrandchildren, who he was greatly involved with; his sisters, Adrienne, Lucienne, Jeanne and Patricia; his brothers, Patrick, Harold and Paul; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Juliette; and brothers, Albert, Norman, Ligorie, Richard and Adolphe.
