LEWISTON – Normand J. Beaulieu, 56, of Lisbon Road, Sabattus died Wednesday, Feb. 25, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after an unexpected illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 2, 1952, the son of Julien and Gilberte (Rioux) Beaulieu.

He was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1971. He also attended Mid State College. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves for more than 20 years. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm serving in Saudi Arabia and in Southwest Asia with the 916th Transport Company from Fort Devens, Mass.

He was a member of the Maine Professional Drivers Association, Knights of Columbus Council 106 and Fourth Degree Wallace Assembly of Lewiston.

He was an avid sports enthusiast including the New England Patriots and NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart.

He enjoyed fishing and will be remembered as a real people person. He enjoyed spending quality time with his five grandchildren.

He is survived by his parents of Lewiston; his companion of 16 years, Becky Smith, with whom he made his home; his former wife and mother of his children, Diane Beaulieu of Lewiston; one son, Neal Beaulieu and his partner, Ryan James, of Auburn; one daughter, Jennifer Hazen and her husband, Derrick, of Sabattus; one brother, Roger Beaulieu and his wife, Patricia, of Lewiston; one sister, Jeanne Beaulieu of Lewiston; one stepson, Pimble Smith Sr. and his wife, Amanda, of Lewiston; one step-daughter, Leeanne Hewins and her husband, Albert III, of Monmouth; five grandchildren, Justice, Devin, Hayden, Pimble Jr. and Albert IV; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
