JAY – Police are investigating a break-in at a Lomie Rivers Road residence where a safe and a jug with coins in it were stolen.
Someone entered the residence through a window by forcing it open with a screwdriver, police Chief Larry White Sr. said Tuesday.
The resident was not home. The burglary was reported Sunday.
The screwdriver was found outside the home, White said.
A 5-gallon plastic jug that had 4 to 5 inches of assorted change in it and a white Century fireproof safe were taken, he said.
He does not know what was in the safe, he said.
“We do have some possible leads,” White said.
Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier was the investigating officer and the case has been turned over to Detective Drew Hufnagel for follow-up, he said.
