AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA Grade 5-6 boys’ basketball travel team finished second in the Central Maine Basketball Conference Tournament. Y went 2-1 in the tournament, falling in the championship game.
Ian Mileikis lead the way with 13 points in a 55-30 victory over Messalonskee.
Bryce Gibson followed with 10 points. Llewellyn Jensen added nine. Luke Sterling scored six, while CJ Jipson, Seth Sterling and Brandon Varney all chipped in with four points apiece. Drew Lashua and Kaileb Tremaine each had two points. Mitchell Bourisk hit a free throw.
Jensen led the balanced Y attack with 12 points in a 66-51 win over Augusta.
Gibson added 11 points, Sterling 10, Mileikis nine, Jipson, Varney and Lashua six each and Seth Sterling, Tremaine and Bourisk two apiece.
Lawrence edged YMCA, 40-36, in the final. Jensen again led a balanced attack with 13 points, followed by Luke Sterling’s nine. Gibson added six, Lashua three, and Jipson and Mileikis two each. Bourisk hit a free throw.
Y finished the season an impressive 9-2. The team would like to thank Graphic Explosion for donating warmup shirts.
