Board: Rumford selectmen

Met: Thursday night

Vacant building signs

Issue: Selectmen received complaints about language on signs posted on vacant buildings by Code Enforcement Officer Rick Kent.

The scoop: At a meeting last month, Selectman Frank DiConzo suggested toning the language down.

Up next: Selectmen agreed to create a different sign for the postings and get it approved by town attorney Thomas Carey before reviewing it at their meeting in two weeks.

Town forest harvesting

Issue: Hiring a forester to selectively harvest trees at the Puiia Business Park off Route 108.

The scoop: At previous meetings, selectmen discussed harvesting trees in and around lots to better enable prospective buyers to view the lots. Money from the sale of harvested trees would then be used to put out to bid other tree harvesting work to thin out town forests.

Up next: Selectmen opened bids and unanimously approved a bid of $4,200 by Brian Milligan of Rumford.
