DURHAM – State, county and local police departments were searching for a pair of men late Thursday night after a home invasion was reported on Leighton Road.

State police chased a possible suspect vehicle shortly after the break-in was reported at about 10:30 p.m., police said. A short time later, area police departments were joining the search for a gold Saturn believed to be linked to the crime.

By 11:30 p.m., Maine State Police had one suspect in custody and were still searching for the second, according to police. Other details about the incident were few. It was believed that police recovered a cell phone and a knife at the scene of the attack, but there was no immediate word on whether anyone was injured.

Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputies and officers from other nearby departments assisted in the search.
