LEWISTON – Le Passe-Temps Snowshoe Club hosted the 2009 International Snowshoe Championship on Jan. 30, 31 and Feb. 1.

Royalty crowned on Friday night were: king, Michael McBrearty, Le Boucanier of Montreal, Canada; queen, Terri Tessier, Alpine Club, Manchester, N.H.; prince, Paul A. Clement, Alpine Club; princess, Zelane Chenier, Les Amis Choisis, Gatineau Canada; junior prince, Tyler Sinclair, Le Passe-Temps, Lewiston; junior princess, Ericka Calvert, Le Rochambeau, Biddeford.

Races were held at Bates College on Saturday.

A parade began at Kennedy Park on Saturday night. The route went from Chestnut to Lisbon, Pine, Bates, Spruce to Lisbon, where the clubs were judged, then back to the park.

The race winners were as follows:

Junior B female: Salena Sawtelle, Le Paresseux, Rumford.

Junior B male, Dominic McBrearty, Le Boucanier, Montreal.

Junior A female: tie, Melanie Arsenault, Les Indiens, Lewiston, and Adreanne Daigle, Les Amis Choisis, Gatineau Canada.

Senior female: Tiffany Dube, Paul Smith Striders, Gabriels, N.Y.

Best female of the day: Salena Sawtelle, Le Paresseux.

Best male of the day: Dominic McBrearty.

Over-all best athlete of the day: Salena Sawtelle.

Parade awards were presented as follows:

Best color guard: tie, Les Indiens of Lewiston and Le Passe-Temps of Lewiston.

Best drum corps: Le Paresseux.

Club with most snowshoes: Le Paresseux.

Most numerous in the parade: Le Paresseux.

Best military major: Le Boucanier.

Best majorette: Les Amis Choisis.
