PORTLAND (AP) – A 38-year-old Portland man who pleaded guilty to robbing a branch of the Biddeford Savings Bank has been sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison.
Michael David Willings was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court. Based on his criminal history, he was found to be a career offender, which resulted in an enhanced sentence under federal guidelines.
Prosecutors said Willings made off with $6,034 in the June 20 holdup, during which he pointed an air pistol at bank employees and ordered them to the floor. He was arrested four days later.
As part of his sentence, Willings must return the stolen money and face five years of probation after he completes his prison term.
