It was Senior Night at Leavitt Area High School and the crowd was rocking! All Leavitt fans in the gym were on their feet as the most popular senior basketball player in the school, Doug Nash, jogged onto the court. Nash, a 6 foot 6 inch center, is Leavitt’s leading scorer and the emotional and physical team leader.
The crowd was into the game from the start, screaming and on their feet when Oxford Hills had the ball and went wild every time Leavitt scored. Nash dominated the game from the very beginning. Doug, “The Flash,” Nash had 26 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and four blocks on the night. Freshman Jordan Hersom also had a standout performance. He scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. The Hornets went on to win the game 70-53 and grab their first playoff berth in years.
