Art is a creative way to express ourselves. It is so important to many youth, that there is a whole month dedicated to it. March is Youth Art Month. To celebrate youth art, the Maine Art Education Association coordinates a student art exhibit. Artwork is highlighted from Lewiston Middle School along with other schools around the state. Each art teacher selects a student’s work to appear in the show. Mrs. Kay Allison selected Alexandria Wilson for her watercolor painting. Mrs. Kate Myrand selected Taylor Levesque for his self portrait drawing.
This statewide exhibit includes 27 pieces. In order for a teacher to send in artwork, the teacher must be a member of the Maine Art Education Association, and the Maine Education Association. It is sponsored by the Maine Education Association which also provides the framing of the student work. The art opening will be held on Sunday, March 22 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Maine Education Office in Augusta. Refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!
