Marta Solomianko, an art student at Bates College, takes advantage of the late-afternoon light on Tuesday to work on her preliminary drawing for the final rendering of an oil painting. Solomianko, a fine arts major from Long Island, New York, said she likes to work after class in solitude, getting her inspiration from the work of Michelangelo.
