GREENE – Gertrude E. Cloutier, 87, passed away Monday, March 9, at the home of her granddaughter, Sue Lyons, with her loving family at her side.

She was born in New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of Frank and Lottie (Gendron) Lagasse. Educated in local schools, she was a lifelong resident of Greene and this community.

On Aug. 30, 1941, she married Romeo G. Cloutier, who predeceased her on Dec. 27, 1992, after 51 years of marriage. She worked as a homemaker for many years as she and her husband raised their family, but she also co-founded R.C. & Sons Paving with her husband, Romeo and helped run the family business until her retirement.

She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Covenant 50 and Lewiston Senior Citizens. Among her favorite enjoyments in her free time were crocheting, doing puzzles, playing beano and camping. She also loved spending winters in Florida, with her son, Maurice, and his wife, Claire.

She was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed.

She leaves a daughter, Pauline Boilard, and her companion, Bob Beauregard, of Lewiston; two sons, Maurice Cloutier and his wife, Claire, of Greene and Richard Cloutier and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Lisa Boilard and her companion, Nate Kramarz, Sue Lyons, Michael Cloutier and his wife, Melissa, Claude Cloutier and his wife, Michelle, Rick Cloutier and his wife, Laurie, Paul Cloutier and his girlfriend, Jessica Lessard, and Kelly Beauregard and her companion, Mack Beaulieu; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hilda Guerin of Auburn and Gladys McDuff and her husband, Maurice of Brunswick.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Gilbert and Paul Lagasse.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Debbie, Jody and Sharon and the entire staff of Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris for the wonderful care she received there while a resident.
