This is in response to the story, March 4, about the two young men who robbed an elderly woman. They must be really proud of themselves.
All I can say is, these kids are getting way out of hand. Where was their upbringing? Oops, I forgot. Parents aren’t allowed to discipline their kids – that would be child abuse.
I guess the people from the state Department of Health and Human Services knew what they were talking about. That’s why so many kids are so disrespectful of others, especially of the elderly.
When I was growing up, if I ever did what some of these kids did, I got my butt whipped. And I’m damned glad I had that upbringing. Maybe some people think that was child abuse, but I learned to have respect for others and not get into trouble with the law. I’ll admit it, I did things to get people mad, but I never broke windows in empty buildings or destroyed property, or went around robbing the elderly just because it was a fun thing to do.
Knowing the judicial system, I expect those young men will get only a slap on their hands and be told not to do it again. So, in my opinion, it’s the poor elderly who get the worst of the deal.
