The last time I went over the Wiseman Bridge in Lewiston, I noticed the cement was crumbling. I wonder when was the last time that bridge was inspected?

Fern St. Hilaire, Lewiston

Editor’s Note: The Wiseman Bridge – known as the Chestnut Street Bridge to the Maine Department of Transportation – was last inspected Jan. 31, 2008. It will be inspected again on Jan. 31, 2010. The last look at the circa-1927 cement bridge found its deck “satisfactory,” its arch “fair” and its abutments satisfactory. MDOT says it is not on its “watch list” of 240 bridges in Maine, and there are no plans for its replacement or repair at this time.
