CARRABASSETT VALLEY – The town’s library directors and building committee, along with library supporters, are seeing their dream of a new library and community center come true.
Voters at Wednesday’s annual town meeting approved construction of a $1,550,000 library and community center near the Anti-Gravity Complex. The facility will allow for multiple uses, including on-sitet child care.
The vote was 112-20.
The sum of $196,561 was approved for the Anti-Gravity Complex, with offsetting revenues of $88,000.
Another $83,465 was OK’d for police; $74,189 for the Fire Department; $170,193 for the communications center; $119,240 for town officers’ salaries; $92,823 for the ambulance subsidy; and $221,114 for solid waste disposal and recycling.
The town budget totals $1,879,750, compared with $1,839,457 last year.
Budgeted revenues are $396,200 compared to $396,700 last year.
John Beaupre and Steve Pierce were re-elected as selectmen while Pierce and John Clements were re-elected to the Sanitary District and Danielle London was re-elected to the school board. All were unopposed.
