PHILLIPS – The Rev. Thomas L. and Sandra M. (Nammarah) Caton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise gathering with family and friends, hosted by their daughter, Christine, and her husband, Ian. The event was held Feb. 7 at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Wilton.

The couple was married Feb. 14, 1959, at the East Congregational Church in Milton, Mass., by the Rev. Clarence L. Schroeder. Best man was Stephan Brayton and maid of honor was Audrey Campbell, friends of the couple.

Both are graduates of Quincy High School in Quincy, Mass. The Rev. Caton went on to graduate from Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, Mass., and Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor. He served parishes in Ellsworth Falls, Lincoln, Bethel and Ashland, and Pocatello, Idaho. He is now retired after 40 years in the ministry.

Mrs. Caton is an artisan and owner of Native Maine Driftwood. She is a member of United Maine Craftsmen and is on their board of directors. They are members of St. Joseph’s Parish in Farmington.

Their marriage was blessed in February of 2004 by the Rev. Roger Chabot. They have four daughters, Christine Caton-McGill and her husband, Iain McGill, of Whitman, Mass.; Eva K. Caton and her partner, Michael Turino, of Hancock, N.H.; Mojdeh McPhillips and her husband, Lawrence McPhillips, of Hanover Park, Ill.; and Virginia L. Dill of Dayton. They also have six grandchildren, Eva’s daughters, Elise Caton Williams and Maggie Caton Williams of Hancock, N.H.; Mojdeh’s daughter, Yasaman, and son, Sean, of Hanover Park, Ill.; and Virginia’s daughters, Hannah and Sarah Dill of Dayton.
