FARMINGTON – The Farmington Emblem Club 460 March supper honored the club’s past presidents. There were 25 members present and 63 absent.

President Sylvia Richards called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Literacy Chairwoman Diana Oliver reported she has been reading at a day care, volunteering at the New Sharon library and making bookmarks for area libraries.

Americanism Chairwoman Mabel Cox collected items to be mailed to a serviceman stationed in Afghanistan. She also collected coupons that will be mailed to a woman in another state who will send them to commissaries for the use of military families.

Shannon Smith, head of the club’s upcoming basket beano, reminded members to sell chances for the club’s “Basket a Day” drawings every day during April. Tickets are $5 each and will entitle ticket holders a chance to win one or more gift-filled baskets.

The club will sponsor a blood drive at the Nichols Building in Wilton from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28. Members volunteered to work at the event.

Richards selected Franklin Memorial Hospital as her choice for an Emblem Club donation in her name. The club also voted to send a girl to Girls State through the Farmington American Legion Auxiliary. A donation will be given to a club member and her husband, an Elks member, to be used toward expenses during an illness.

Installation of officers will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 29, at the Farmington Elks Lodge. The public is invited. A new slate of officers was voted at the meeting. Starting in April the new officers will hold their offices for two years before the next installation takes place in 2011.

The 50-50 raffle was won by Candy Clark; mystery gift, Lois Barker; and pot of gold, Quinnale Kinsey.
