AUBURN – A city employee escaped injury Monday when a dump truck he was driving suddenly caught fire.

According to an accident report filed by the Auburn Police Department, Donald Lawlor, 54, of Poland was operating the vehicle and leveling Fickett Road at about 11:25 a.m. when a fire broke out under the dashboard and spread to the entire cab.

Damage to the 2000 truck was listed at $10,000.
