FARMINGTON – The Upper Kennebec Valley Chapter, Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine, will hold a workshop exploring the ways to make wine and beer with ingredients from the woodlot from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 21, at the Kennebec Home Brew store on Route 2.

John Cormier, a long-time beer and wine maker of Kennebec Home Brew Supplies, will lead participants through the process of making wine and beer from birch and maple trees.

Kathy Hopkins from UMaine Extension, a leader in the field of tapping maples, will talk about how to tap trees correctly, and Dave Fuller, also of UMaine Extension, will talk about other products from the woodlot. There will also be an evaporator running.

The workshop is free and open to all. For information, call Cormier at 474-3499 or e-mail [email protected].
