Doggie delinquents
Issue: Letters went out Wednesday to remind 84 dog owners in town that they’re late licensing their pets.
The scoop: Owners have seven days to respond with an added $25-per-dog late fee.
Up next: If the town doesn’t hear from them, selectmen asked that the animal control officer have authority to issue summonses.
Public Works recap
Issue: With a mechanic going out temporarily on sick leave, selectmen approved hiring a part-time mechanic at $30 an hour or less as a private contractor. He or she has to have their own insurance.
Issue: The town is getting $36,829.76 in disaster relief from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for money spent during several winter storms in December. It’ll go toward paying back the town for overtime expenses and damage to roads and culverts.
Issue: Selectmen gave the OK for pine logs cut down on the public works back lot to be sold. Interested parties may call 375-8702.
Town meeting set
Issue: Selectmen set the annual town meeting for 9 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Sabattus Central School.
Up next: The warrant should be available a month before that.
