LEWISTON – Stella V. D’Amour, 72, of Lewiston, died on March 17, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 31, 1936, to the late Arthur and Theodora (Bergeron) Tancrede, and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1955. She worked in the insurance industry for more than 22 years.

Prior to retirement in 1997, she owned and operated Kid’s Place day care with her daughter, Diane. She was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish. She married Robert D’Amour on Nov. 9, 1957. He predeceased her on Dec. 17, 2003.

She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Celeste and Roger Philippon and Diane and Dennis Chamberlain, all of Lewiston; her grandchildren, John and Brannen Chamberlain of Valdosta, Ga., Joseph Philippon of Lewiston, Beth Chamberlain and her friend, Craig Perreault, of Lewiston, Cory Chamberlain of Lewiston and her “adopted” grandson, Mark Bubier of Lewiston; two sisters, Rita and husband, Albert Landry, of Lewiston and Priscilla and husband, Gerard Roy, of Colorado; and Delia Tancrede, her sister-in-law of Auburn.

She was predeceased by her sister, Carmen Poirier; her brother, Robert Tancrede; and her sister, Anita Paradis.

Her family would like to extend a special thank-you to the entire staff on unit D3 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion.
