AUBURN – Armand “Rudy” Leclair, 85, of 15 Stewart St., Lewiston, passed away Saturday, March 21, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

He was born in Auburn, on June 26, 1923, son of William and Stella Godin Leclair. He was educated in Auburn schools and served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II, and was stationed in the Pacific Theater until his discharge in 1945. On Aug. 25, 1947, he married the former Theresa Couture at Holy Family Church. He was employed in the cleaning business for 21 years and for 10 years for the state of Maine, Pineland Hospital, before his retirement. Rudy was an avid golfer and baseball catcher. He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, on April 25, 2004, for the 1954 Maine Baseball Championship, having played for Bates Manufacturing Co. He loved all sports, but his favorite team was the Yankees. Rudy is survived by his wife, Theresa of Lewiston; two daughters; Linda and husband, Dan Hebert, of Lewiston and Nancy and husband, Joseph St. Pierre, of Poland; a sister, Constance Leclair of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Tim Hebert and wife Melissa, Joey St. Pierre and wife Cindy, Amanda St. Pierre, Kevin St. Pierre and Jennifer St. Pierre; and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Sawyer Hebert.

He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Leclair; and by his granddaughter, Michelle St. Pierre.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Hospice House, and the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center Oncology Department, especially Dr. Modarressi and his staff, for all the loving care they gave Armand.
