SOUTHINGTON, Conn. – Laurier ‘Larry’ Rene Anctil, 81, went to meet his Lord on March 26.

Beloved husband of Elsie (Rossignol Bernaiche), he was born in Lewiston, on June 17, 1927, to the late Wilfred Anctil and Georgianna Landry. He lived in Lewiston for most of his life. He worked as a laborer at the Bates Cotton Mill, a builder and various other jobs. Larry was an excellent furniture restorer, musician and even better vocalist. He sang and played the organ at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Lewiston. He entertained in convalescent homes in the Lewiston-Auburn area. His beautiful paintings and homemade stained glass are owned and loved by the family. He was an avid gardener who won many awards for his horticultural talents. Upon marrying his beautiful wife, Elsie, on Nov. 24, 1979, he inherited her seven loving children who quickly found themselves calling him Pop. In 2002, he and his wife moved from Lewiston to Cheshire, Conn., and then to Southington in 2004 to be closer to his family.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Elsie; five sons, Reginald, Richard, Gene and his wife, Sharon, Joseph and his wife, Norma and Normand and his wife, Jennifer; two daughters, Arlene Bernaiche and Sheryl Hatheway and her husband, Norman; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and in-laws.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert, Lucian, Laurent, Willie, Renaldo, Jean-Paul, and a sister.
