RUMFORD – Alice Metivier, 94, formerly of 220 Franklin St., Rumford, died peacefully on Thursday, March 26, at the Rumford Community Home, where she was a resident for the last year and a half.

She was born in Rumford, the daughter of Raoul and Ludora Lacroix, and attended Rumford schools.

Alice married Alcide “Kid” Metivier on Aug. 10, 1936. They shared 54 years together.

She is survived by her sons, Armand Metivier and wife, Doris, of Jay, Phil Metivier and wife, Cathy, of Old Town, and Maurice Metivier and wife, Joanne, of Jay; seven grandchildren, Brian Metivier of Jay, Michelle (Metivier) Knox of Livermore, Sarah (Metivier) Tidwell of Orono, Adam Metivier of Old Town, Nicole (Metivier) Nichols of Jay, Kelly Metivier of Jay, and Michael Metivier of Jay; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Justin Knox, Kaitlyn and Emily Nichols, and Gage Dalton, and Baby Tidwell, who is yet to be born; a sister, Irene Chase of Westbrook; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kid; a daughter, Renee; two brothers, George Lacroix, and Armand (Buster) Lacroix; and two sisters, Lilian Lavigne and Carmen Lacroix.

She will be sadly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Rumford Community Home for the excellent care she received while residing there, as well as Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, Tammy Bean and Mary Lacroix (Alice’s niece) for the special care she received in her last moments. These people were heaven sent.
