Wilton – Avis E. Pettengill, 73, a resident of Keep Road, Jay, died Friday, March 27, as a result of an automobile accident on Routes 2 & 4 in Wilton.

She was born April 7, 1935, in Jay, the daughter of Scott and Emma (Bryant) Jewett. Avis attended school in Jay. In 1953, she married Gary Pettengill: they later divorced. Avis spent the last several years living in Jay with her companion, Clinton Robinson. She worked as a private duty nurse in the area. She loved spending time with her family and you would often see her out with her daughter Lisa, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her companion, Clinton Robison of Jay; two daughters and their husbands, Pamela and George Sanipas of Lewiston and Lisa and Todd Hiscock of Jay; grandchildren Shawn Hiscock and his wife Heather, of Jay, Sharon Doiron of Livermore Falls, Mark Pettengill and his companion Abbie Roy, of Lewiston, Matthew Pettengill and his wife Sara, of Gardiner and Marshall Hiscock and his wife Crystal, of Auburn; great-grandchildren Devin Stanley, Christopher Doiron, Jordan and Isaac Hiscock, Mya Pettengill and Logan Hiscock; brothers, Marvin Jewett and his wife Linda, of Jay and Clayton Jewett and his wife, Judith, also of Jay; a sister, Maureen Drottar and her husband Vincent, of Hampden; many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased her son, Scott Pettengill on April 9, 2008; and a sister-in-law, Georgette Jewett.
