LEWISTON – Maurice and Glorianne Gilbert of Lewiston celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Lost Valley Lodge in Auburn on June 21. More than 100 friends and family members attended the celebration.

The event was hosted by their children, Mike of Tucson, Ariz., Chris and wife, Heather, of Portland, Greg and wife, Denise, and Jeff Gilbert, all of Lewiston. Also attending were grandchildren, Trevor, Jamie, Tim, Nick, Olivia and Sydney Gilbert. Daughter-in-law, Suzé and grandson, Devon, were unable to attend from out of state.

Red and white roses with gold accents decorated the head table. The couple’s wedding album, various photos and memories were displayed in the lodge lounge. A beautiful ‘Then and Now’ photo, created by Suzé Gilbert, was used for invitations, as well as the background for a picture frame guest book. The couple exchanged pieces of a white, two-tier anniversary cake decorated with red roses and gold leaves.

The Rev. Real Nadeau of Wells, performed a recommitment ceremony, followed by a special champagne toast to the couple by son Mike.

A special honor table included members of the original bridal party, Donald Roy, Bob Morin, Lorraine Dussault, Nancy Jutras and Simonne Lavoie.

Mr. Gilbert and the former Glorianne Beaulieu were married June 21, 1958, at St. Peter’s Basilica in Lewiston. After living in Los Angeles, Calif., for 10 years, they returned to Lewiston in 1968 when Mr. Gilbert accepted a position with Sampson’s Supermarkets. He retired in 2002 as the northern division manager of human resources and training with Hannaford Bros. Co. in Scarborough. Mrs. Gilbert retired in 2001 as a billing clerk for Bernstein-Shur-Sawyer and Nelson, PA in Portland.

The couple made their home in Portland for 20 years. In 2000 they moved into their dream home on Long Lake in Naples. In 2006 they relocated to Lewiston, where they currently reside.
