LEWISTON – Actress Geena Davis will be among five speakers and honorary degree recipients at the 143rd Bates College commencement on May 31 in Lewiston.

The college announced Tuesday that the Academy Award winner known for her performance in “Thelma and Louise” will receive a Doctor of Fine Arts degree.

Also being honored is Fareed Zakaria, editor of Newsweek International, world affairs columnist and CNN host.

Others speakers and degree recipients include the Rev. Robert Franklin Jr., president of Morehouse College; Mimi Koehl, professor of integrative biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and Ralph Perry, former Hannaford Bros. Co. executive and a Bates trustee.
