PALERMO – Richard E. Rogers, 76, of Palermo, went home to be with the Lord on April 6.

He was born in Fryeburg, on Feb. 8, 1933, the son of Earle and Eva Rogers. He was employed as a mechanic and engineer for most of his life, retiring from Crowe Rope in 1995.

Throughout his life he was active in Christian ministry, serving as a deacon and trustee at South Paris Baptist Church and then at Bayshore Baptist Church in Lincolnville. Upon retirement, he and his wife became missionaries with the Berean Mission, serving six years in England.

After retiring from the mission field, he became assistant pastor at Faith Community Church in Lovell. In recent years, he attended Palermo Christian Church and led home Bible study groups.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria (McKeen) Rogers; a son, Richard Rogers Jr., and his wife, Carol, of Phillips; his daughters, Nancy Hanson and her husband, Eric, of South Paris, Brenda Maxfield and her husband, Vern, of Norway and Susan Williams and her husband, Bruce, of Palermo; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, with two more expected; a sister, Evelyn Haverinen of Norway; and a sister, Amy Andrews and her husband, Earl, of Oxford.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, who died in infancy.
