Tripp Middle School just had its annual Spelling Bee. All together there were fifteen seventh and eighth graders competing in the Bee from the three teams, Bengals, Wildcats, and the Siberians. All of the students were given difficult words to spell. Some were more challenging than others and none of the students were given any kind of special treatment. Each student spelled in the gym in front of the whole school.
Each student participating in the Bee had to get up when it was their turn, and stand in front of the microphone. Mr. Stephen Fairbanks, Bengal team English and Reading teacher, was the beemaster and gave them the word to spell. When the students got the word wrong, they were to sit down back into the audience. Finally it was down to two students, Roger Robert and Mark Hite, both Bengals. They had to spell until one got the word wrong and then the person who got it wrong had to sit down and the other person had to spell one extra word correctly. The winner for the Tripp Middle School Spelling Bee was Roger Robert and the runner up was Mark Hite. They will continue on to the Androscoggin County Bee.
